The McNary National Wildlife Refuge straddles a wide area of the Tri city region, but it is closest and most accessible from the Pasco area. When considering a Pasco Wa real estate purchase, one must consider the beauty of the accompaning Wildlife Refuge.

This wildlife sanctuary covers some 15,000 acres of shrub-steppes, sand dunes, bluffs, river deltas and islands, rolling hills, canyons, and bluffs which provide food and habitat to a rich diversity of plants and animals.

The McNary National Wildlife Refuge of Tri city Pasco is located on the Columbia basin, where some of the hottest and driest climate in all of the Washington State can be seen. This warm, dry weather combined with a healthy river system makes the area a favorite among birds and many other types of plants and wildlife.

The Columbia Basin has a unique flora because of its dry climate and unique soil conditions.
