Small town fun in Brownsville, OregonOne of three cafe's in Brownsville

Friday I had the pleasure of spending time with 3 very close friends in Brownsville, Oregon, a bustling town of around 1600 occupants.  We spent some time in the Linn County Museum, visited the few shops on Main Street and had lunch at Bella Cuciana's.  Of course the Pioneer Picnic started that same day, so we took in a few activities there too.  We just caught the tail end of the Kiddie Parade, sorry we missed that.  Looked like the kids put a lot of effort into their displays.

I had so much fun in that little town that I went back Saturday with my husband and daughter.  We caught the main parade at 10am, checked out the town and then headed to the Pioneer Picnic.  I understand the Picnic has been held since 1887 and started out as a reunion for Pioneers.  In fact, there were photos of the parade going back at least 50 years on display in the Picture Gallery on the corner of Kirk and Main.

Our family enjoyed discovering the park, the Quilt show, the flower show, the pie eating contest andPie eating contest the horse Play Day and people watching followed up by a BBQ chicken dinner!

If you are looking for a small town to call home, Brownsville Oregon could be just the place you are looking for!  The town has several old farmhouse and Victorian style houses, new and larger craftsman along with newer ranch style homes.  There was a larger mini mart, a gas station and a few boutique type shops.  The little town surrounded by gentle hills and lush farm fields and flanked by the Calapooia River.  Absolutely gorgeous country.
