Would You Put Your Pet in an Oven?
This is a great informative blog, even if you don't have pets.
Then why would you even think about leaving him/her in a car during the hot weather - even for a second!?
Did you know that on a hot day, say 85 degrees (29 celcius) the inside of a car can reach 102 degrees (39 celcius) in just 10 minutes?
Did you know that a dog's normal temperature ranges between 101 to 102.5 degrees, but he/she can only sustain a body temperature 107-108 (41-42 celcius) for a very short time before suffering brain damage or death?
Have you ever heard the saying, "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem."
Have you ever seen an animal in a car, but been too afraid to do anything about it - you didn't want to "get involved"?
Here's a way to indirectly get involved if you see someone leave their pet in the car. Go to http://www.mydogiscool.com/b_flyer.php, download the flyers and posters. If you see a pet in a car put the flyer on the windshield.
To remind people about not leaving their pets in the car wherever you go, place the poster in your car's window.
And remember: animals cannot speak for themselves.
They cannot put their mouths up to a crack in the window and say, "Hey you! Can you get my owner? I'm dying in here!" They rely on us to keep them safe, if their owners have neglected to.
And, if you see an animal in immediate danger, save a life, call the police.
