OK REALTORS...Do You Try to FIND Time or Do You MAKE Time for Loved Ones and YOURSELF?
Attention Joplin area agents. This is one of the most important posts you could read this week. If you're not scheduling appointments with yourself and loved ones then you're doing a disservice to yourself and the ones you love.
In reading some of the posts from self-described workaholics or REALAHOLICS as they call themselves they often talk about how they love their work. In fact, it no longer is called work by many. It is their life.
I enjoy real estate. I've been doing it for many years. Why? Well, the income I earn comes in handy. Oh, and yes, there is another reason which is even more important. I like it very much. I get the same sense of satisfaction from finding the right house for someone as even the most workaholic agent. Another reason I like real estate is that it affords me time to do something I like even more than real estate. I have time to spend with my family.
One of ActiveRain's special members, Carole Provenzale, passed away this week. What a lose to Carole's family and all of her friends including some of us that she never laid eyes on. It was through Active Rain that many of us got to know Carole.
One important thing we can learn from Carole is that she took time for the truly important things in life. She treasured her children and other family members and she was a loyal and conscientious proponent of Feng Shui.
Are their family members that you have not been in touch with for some time? Are there friends that you have not found time for even though you really want to see them?
Think of all of the other things that you would like to do "if you only had the time." Please consider making the time and, whenever possible, include another to share the experience with you.
- Pick up that book that you started and haven't finished...only if you were enjoying it. Otherwise, chose another!
- Grab that camera and take a walk. Snap photos of the things that interest you along the way
.- Soak up some sunshine. Remember those days last summer when you longed for some sunshine? Lather up first.
- Write some notes to some elderly family members. Wouldn't they be surprised and happy?
- Try a special recipe for your family or invite some friends over to share dinner with you.
- Visit one of the tourist spots in your area that you've been meaning to see for years.
- Write a poem.
- Organize the boxes of photos you've taken through the years...at least get started.
Family members can sure lend a hand with this project.
- Begin journaling...and stick to it.
- Volunteer for an upcoming field trip for your child's class.
- Make sure you get to your children's activities...sporting events, plays, teacher conferences.
- Now is the perfect time to do some gardening. Bring on the flowers. They'll make you happy.
There are so many things that you can do. Be sure to do some things with loved ones. They will appreciate the time spent with them. This is what creates memories and strengthens bonds.
For a healthier you, temper your working life with time for loved ones and time for doing the things you enjoy. You will be just as successful (perhaps even more although I do not provide guarantees) and much happier.
We cannot stop time from passing but we can make the "best use" of our time.
