Paris sous la pluie ~ Paris in the rain

We have 3 grandkids turning 16 this year.

The one in San Antonio got a regular party and his Dad's truck (I think he got the truck since he keeps referring to it as "my truck.")  He is happy.

The one in the Dallas area got a Sweet Sixteen trip to New York with her mother, sister, and grandmother.  She saw the Lion King on Broadway, ate at Sardi's, saw Central Park, and more.  Although the weather provided a beautiful blanket of snow while she was there, she said it was her best birthday ever ~ but actually she gets to do lots of cool things.

The one in Oregon is now on her Sweet Sixteen trip to Paris with her Mom and her best friend since Pre-K.  I spoke with her last night and she was very excited and I am so excited for her.  She speaks French so it will be interesting to learn how she makes use of it while she is there.  (Also, she told me several times that she loves me... that made me very happy and is better than a trip to Paris for me, usually I get one I Love You per conversation ...ok so maybe I'm a little needy... LOL.. but I like being told that I am loved... especially by my precious granddaughter.)  She touched down in Paris at 9:00 pm my time tonight... 8:00 am in Paris... and I am almost there with her.  I checked out the weather forecast and it looks like she will get some heavy rain on Saturday.  Paris sous la pluie.

I actually don't remember that much about my 16th birthday... maybe I got a cake?

Shirley : How lucky you are one grandson and two grand-daughters turning 16 in the same year. There isn't anything greater then being a grandparent. I hope you carry your brag book with you (do they still have those)? Mine got so big I ditched it. (ceil)

Carl says howdy!

When I was 16 I would have taken a truck over a trip to Paris too!

Have a great weekend!

I think I purchased my first used car at 16. No big trips, but those three sound pretty awesome. We would like to take our kids on a big trip like that. We'll see. Have a safe 4th of July.

Shirley - Having 3 grandkids turn 16 at once, is quite a milestone.  In our family we have a covey of grand-daughters, who started kindergarten a few years back, and we thought that was great.  They are all in the 10 to 11 year range now, so we have a few years before they turn 16.  It sounds like all of your 16 year olds, made out pretty well for their birthdays. . .I would have loved being on that trip to Paris!

Hi Shirley, I remember turning sixteen, I had a huge slumber party and somewhere about that time I got my driver's license - no fancy trips etc.  How lucky are your grand children to have such memorable times and how lucky are you to hear I love you more than once!  That is something we never get tired of :-)
