CARTHAGE MAPLE LEAF PARADE - OCTOBER 9th-16th, 2010 - 44th ANNUAL PARADE (edit/delete)

On the third Saturday of October, the grand finale day of the 8-day festival begins with the largest parade in Southwest Missouri. The parade is the festival's key event and starts promptly at 9 a.m. on the Carthage Historic Square and ends at approximately noon at the Carthage Junior High School.   Numerous activities are scheduled throughout the day to entertain both the young and the young at heart. These events include an arts & crafts festival, petting zoo, auto show, dog show, food vendors, and live entertainment. 

The week preceding the one-day finale is filled with a variety of activities including a family fun walk, beauty pageants, baby contest, and lip-sync competition.  Currently in its 43rd year, the Maple Leaf Festival offers family-style fun combined with a home-town atmosphere.

 Maple Leaf Bike Ride & Eat Out Sponsored by: Joplin Trails Coalition 10/9/2010 Kellogg Lake Park (Highway 96 East) Registration: 7:30 a.m. Bike Ride: 8:30 a.m. Pre-register online at www.CarthageMapleLeafRide.com.
Ride lengths of 15, 35, 50, 70 and 100 miles are offered. Costs for the road ride if prepaid by October 09, 2009: $20.00 for the 15 mile ride or $35.00 for the 35, 50, 70, and 100 mile rides. All ride prices increase by $10.00 if paid after October 09, 2009. Children under 10 ride for free with a paid adult and can get a T-Shirt for $10.00. East out $5.00 for non-riders.  Maple Leaf Festival Lighting Contest Sponsored by: Carthage Convention & Vistor's Bureau 10/9/2010 Tour maps available October 5th at the CVB office, 402 S. Garrison, Carthage Dusk til 10 p.m. Carthage residents are encouraged to decorate yards and businesses to illuminate and celebrate the changing of the season. Prizes are awarded and displays are available for public night viewing. Registration forms available at the CVB office. Entry applications are due by October 1st to the CVB.
