How do people choose their Agent?

Is your real estate company brand important?
Not according to NAR surveys of Homebuyers and Sellers.

I interviewed with all the companies in my market. I chose the one I did based on one thing...I got to brand myself, not the company.

People buy from you, not from some perceived value that your "company" offers.

I have been having this very conversation with several agents that are at other companies, all concerned with the "companies" brand.

Turns out, I am vindicated.

See what Gary Keller states about this.
Listen to his last comment "Why would I want to compete against my own agents"? Hmmmm....

Tim,

I'm finding that if people like you and trust you, they will use you no matter what company you work for.

Great post!

You market your property with better, sharper, wider images than the rest of the herd. You use video, real video with your voice talking one on one on the audio channel to use the ears, not just the buyer's eyeballs. Your seller's see how you do the marketing, better. Your copy is more creative, fun to read, detailed with helpful links, blogs posts, everything about the property AND the community you are knee deep involved in. If you promote the property, your community then your brand, your agent/broker image is the mortar that oozes out of those essential building blocks. Let your work showcase you not a slew of cheesy images holding a phone on billboards, sides of buses, in the local paper. Too much you you you makes the buyer gag, pick anyone with less ego, less star power smiling for the camera. Be a little Red Hen hard working service broker and that reputation creates your brand, your personality as a leader in your market that stands out for job performance. Don't waste your buyer's time.

People buy from people that they know, like and trust.

Real Estate is no different than any other type of business relationship, or for that matter...relationships of any type.

Companies in local markets get leads from sign calls and then have the audacity to sell them back to the agent...or have someone who happens to be by a phone get the lead.

This is after they get the sign call from an agents sign...the agent who spent the time, money and effort to promote the listing.

I come from a different industry, so I look at this with fresh eyes...that is a travesty.

I'll buy my own signs, thank you. :)

I want to make the practice of selling leads back to agents a thing of the past.  I want my software to send you the leads directly and instantly.  Wish me luck!
