BOEING CHARLESTON: DREAMLINER OR DREAMLIFTER ?
Excitement is in the air as Charleston, SC watches Boeing's presence develop around us. While driving I-526, one can't help but notice the field of cranes where the Boeing Charleston facility is under construction.
For those of us who are entertained by the airplanes in the sky, we again are seeing examples of Boeing's presence in the Charleston area. Recent news informs us that Boeing's Dreamliner aircrafts will be built at Boeing's Charleston facility. But what's that guppy shaped airplane are we seeing in the air ?
Is the DreamLiner already flying ? Yes, but not really. What we are seeing in the sky is the DreamLifter...so what is the DreamLifter ?
The DreamLifter is the cargo plane especially made by Boeing to fly parts of the DreamLiner to various Boeing facilities around the world. Boeing DreamLifter pilots and crew are supplied by Atlas Air Cargo, an international air freight company.
Charleston welcomes Boeing and it's employees and suppliers !!
