On my real estate site, I've been blogging about why you shouldn't buy Seattle real estate (I live in Snohomish County!). In the interest of fairness, I thought I should point out a few reasons why buying a Seattle home is a good idea.

Increasing gas prices add another dimension to commuting. People who bought a "commuting house" two or three years ago are seeing much higher prices now in weekly expenses, so many might not have made the same decision.

In a recent article I read on downtown Tampa, one resident objected to the complaints of lack of things to do after 5 pm in downtown Tampa, and said that he bought downtown just so he could walk to work. He thought the developers should advertise that advantage more.

In the comments of the article I say that big companies need to move into more rural areas, like mine, to help in reducing commute times. Some people just can't afford inner city living especially if they need 3 bedrooms for a larger family. Having employers move towards the population and/or provide jobs in more cities around the area would help elivate congestion problems in my opinion.
