I discovered a cool tool to help manage time. Well, not necessarily manage time, but find time I was wasting away. RescueTime is free and easy to use, and is a self-imposed Big Brother in your life. Once downloaded, the tool will keep track of how long you are doing certain things, whether reading email, web surfing, actually working, not working, whatever. At the end of the day you will identify time sucks you were not aware of. Here are three short videos that explain RescueTime:
A coach recently suggested using an online chess clock to metric our time management. This sounds interesting too...but how easy is it to manipulate? Some of us don't want to see the uncensored truth!
Colleen, this looks great! I am going to have to see if I can put this to use! Thanks!
Thanks for your post. The 3 videos were super. I'm scared to see how much time I waste everyday. Does it give you plan to help you better manage? Or can we enjoy self flagellation that we aren't as productive as we would like to be.
love this.. need to put it on my computer at the office... I also have a stop watch there for my lead generation time so I can stop/re start should I get interrupted..
Funny thing is I purchased a subscription to download 26 images every day for 30 days. I did this so I could save a bunch on image purchases. Until I downloaded RescueTime, I didn't realize I was spending an hour a day sorting through the images and then downloading them. I wonder how much the "savings" cost me in time I could have been spending trying to do real estate!
haven't watached the videos yet but I can tell this will be convicting :-O
Uh-oh, this one looks scary. . . . and I'm too tempted not to try it. . .
I like to believe most of my computer time is productive and work related...maybe I'll be surprised and find I'm surfing around more than I think I am.
