The temperatures are getting milder which means there are more opportunities to get out and about in Katy this month.

With the cooler weather family friendly eats are great places to be and restaurants like Vida Loca, El Jarrito, Willies, and Texas Borders offer family friendly eats and treats like toys and play areas. Find more family friendly dining and the best of kids eat free in the area here.

On September 17 Maude Marks offers "Senior Moments: Social Security" a workshop with a representative from the Social Security Administration where you can learn more about your benefits.  Space is limited for this free event so be sure to call the library at 281-492-8592 to make your reservation.

One of Katy's newest salons specializes in family fun and a premier salon experience. This month get a haircut at Pigtails and Crewcuts and get double punches on your card on Wednesdays, or attend one of these fun events:

Kindermusik and Pigtails gives a whole new twist on the idea of a "barber shop quartet" as it hosts musical play dates.  Find out more about Pop in Playdates (as well as weekly classes) offered at Pigtails & Crewcuts at 5131 South Fry Road at the corner of Mason and Fry. Once Upon A Pigtail - Fashion Friday: September 17 at 4pm

Have an aspiring model in your family? On September 17, your child can strut their stuff at Once Upon A Pigtail: Fashion Friday! Kids can show off their back-to-school fashions while Pigtails & Crewcuts stylists compliment their look with a dab of gel, non-permanent hair color or hair accessories.

Once Upon A Pigtail - Craft Time: September 24 at 9am and 4pm

Pigtails & Crewcuts playtime series Once Upon A Pigtail: Complimentary Craft Time debuts on September 24. Stop by at 9am and 4pm to create a fun craft for free.

This month Radio Disney will be at the Katy Mills Mall on September 18 hosting the Ultimate Game Show.  This special event includes interactive stations and fun Disney trivia for the whole family. Be sure to visit the Katy Mills Mall website to pick up a helpful food court coupon. Stay and play, rock climb or ride the carousel or train.

September 24 support the Morton Ranch High School by attending their Latin Fest.  From 7-10pm Morton Ranch High School Hispanic Students will be performing in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Tickets go on sale September 20 and are $5.00 at the school, $7.00 at the door.

katy texasSeptember 25 marks the opening of Dewberry Farm's fall season and Dewberry Farm is a Must "Dew" This Fall. Pick up a pumpkin, go on a hay ride and play all day on a working farm.  Be sure to plan your group event in advance as spaces fill quickly.
