In honor of Free Museum Day promoted by Smithsonian Magazine, some of our local museums will offer free admission on Saturday, September 25th! This day was created to be known as a celebration of culture, learning, and the spreading of knowledge; Museum Day is a day each year when museums and cultural institutions nationwide open their doors to the public free of charge.
This is a day that you can plan a vacation right in your own back yard. Explore the local attractions that you haven't ever visited or haven't visited for years. Plan a fun day for you and your family to enjoy...free! St. Joseph is home to 15 area museums that all work together to illustrate the rich history that has played a significant role in the development of our amazing community...enjoy it!!!
The participating Museum Association of St. Joseph members, their location, and their hours are:
Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art, 2818 Frederick, 1 to 4 p.m.;
Fire Museum, 11th and Penn, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.;
National Military Heritage Museum, 701 Messanie, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.;
Pony Express National Museum, 914 Penn, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.;
Remington Nature Center, 1502 MacArthur Drive, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.;
Robidoux Row Museum, 3rd and Poulin, 10 to 4 p.m.;
Society of Memories Doll Museum, 115 S. 12th, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.;
St. Joseph Museums (including the Black Archives and the
Glore Psychiatric Museum), 3406 Frederick, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.;
Wyeth-Tootle Mansion, 11th and Charles, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Agency Ford Museum, 11351 State Rt. FF in Agency, Missouri, 64401, will also be participating.
