What a wonderful display of community support there was this morning! Families and friends of the deploying soldiers of The Idaho National Guard said our goodbyes as they left for a year long deployment to Iraq.
My sister, Kerri Thoreson, a member of the Post Falls City Council, was there doing double duty as loved one as well as one of the dignitaries to shake the hand of each soldier at the armory as they boarded busses bound for the airport.
Never without her camera, I was touched at this candid photo she snapped as I said an emotional farewell to my son, Dallas. She surprised me with a link to it on her More Main Street online Coeur d'Alene Press column.
