Great picture! I remember how amazed I was when I saw the shuttle transport in person...it's huge!
Good morning Gary,
This is a fantastic shot..you really captured the magnitude of this event!
Excellent photo. Thanks so much for sharing! Did you take the picture? It must have been amazing to watch that being moved.
Though many American's have forgotten about the shuttle program us "oldies" remember it with awe. It is sad to see this era of our space exploration come to an end.
Holly: The photo was passed on to me from a colleague who lives in the area and she told me as of today the scheduled launch is November 2nd at 4 pm Eastern.
THis is sooo cool...I would love to watch one with my hubby and just be amazed at humans and technology!
Wow!
Gary,
It still thrills me!
What a shame Bush and Obama wasted all that money of a stimulus that didn't! With the exception of the two world wars nothing has ever stimulated our economy like the space program! Nothing! Look at all we gained from going to the moon!
Here we sit in front of our computers, our cell phones with in reach, thinking about heating up brunch in a micro wave! I've got to do some running later go out and drive my computer controlled car.
I've got to go to the local equivalent of the DMV. O'well some things never change!
I hope the Russians let us visit our space station.
Bill
I still think it's great. I remember going there once to see 'one of them' making it towards the lift off pad & it was just awesome. It's on that tractor style mover & it sinks a foot into the ground as it goes along.
Did you notice the turn signal?
The Space Shuttles are just breathtaking. They are flippin' HUGE. Gives me goosebumps just to think of it blasting into space in a matter of seconds.
Impressive. We don't see much of those launches anymore. Your perspective on this photo makes me think how small we all are in the grand scheme of things. And, now finding out that there is another planet out there that could support life AS WE KNOW IT, makes me even more humble.
Gary, This is going to be a bittersweet launch for all of us here in Brevard County FL (for you too, having lived here) It will definitely be one that is remembered for years to come.
Absolutely beautiful. Makes you realize how small we are in comparison to what exists in space.
Gary, what a great picture and I would definitely like to be on hand for such a cool event!
Gary, what a stunning shot. Excellent.
It is sad, that the are halting the program.
I heard that they are taking visitors to the pad now
