2 Portsmouth NH Realtors visit the Pumpkin People and the Yellow Brick Road

This past Sunday Ann and I decided to take the day off and head for the mountains. No showings scheduled and no appointments so it was a perfect opportunity for some R & R.

We headed north from Portsmouth up Route # 16 and after a couple of stops in North Conway and other spots, ended up in Jackson, New Hampshire just outside the White Mountain National Forest.

Jackson was having their annual “Pumpkin People” contest/display/festival. I’m not sure what you would call it but pretty cool nevertheless. The only rule was all the displays had to have heads made of pumpkins. Here’s some of the coolest ones we saw:

Sunday in the white mountains, this the ski couple with baby pumpkin people

This "Pumpkin People" couple and baby are ready for the snow to fall.

Next we saw Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. From the orange stockings sticking out from the picket fence we can assume the house just fell on the Wicked Witch of the East.

And sure enough, just up the yellow brick road was Dorothy, The Tin Man, The Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, and a surprise traveler, Realtor Ann Cummings, all off to see the Wizard.

There was a pumpkin people wedding going on behind an inn.

We gave the pumpkin chef at the Wentworth Inn extra points for creativity because the stove had a fan inside blowing the red cellophane to simulate flames on the stove top.

Moving along to the next spot we found The Flintstones, Fred, Wilma, and all the gang. 2010 is their 50th anniversary.

The Flintstone's gang were looking pretty good with their golf cart car and pet dinosaur Dino

With all the pumpkins around I think Linus has a good chance of seeing The Great Pumpkin this year.

It's the great pumpkin charlie brown, he's right here in Jackson NH

From left to right are: Schroeder, Lucy, Pig Pen, Linus with his blanket, Snoopy lying on his doghouse with Woodstock the bird, and Good ol Charlie Brown

And finally some pumpkin kids were being read a bedtime story before turning in for the night.

There were 47 “Pumpkin People” displays spread all over Jackson and we had fun visiting all the ones we could easily find. Some very nice local folks told us about a couple we would not have found on our own including the Peanuts characters. Print out this map and guide so you can see all 47.
