Energy Saving Tip of the day!

Have a fireplace at home? When you aren't using it, don't forget to close it! You can loose up to 8% of heated air just through the chimney! But, If the fireplace is never used, the damper should be sealed with weather stripping ( The process of sealing openings, doors, windows, and holes...) or stuffed with fiberglass insulations.

If you'd like to do your own weathers stripping. Refer to this link.

Thanks for the tip. I will pass it along. However, I have a gas fireplace and for the past 7 years that we've had this home, the family room where the fire place is located always seems extremely cold. DO you have any idea why??

Thanks!

And Indera check around the room and the area like the windows and the walls maybe there's some kind of opening thats just letting cold air in. Or maybe its even the insulation. Check which wall is specifically colder then the others and thats where you may find your problem. Is that wall the fireplace is installed on colder than the other? If so it could be poor insulation along that wall
