Water Test Results on Community Well different then at the home

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with RE/MAX at the Lake

I ran into a situation where the water test results on the community well were different than at the home. I represent the seller of a home that is on a large community well. The community well is  monitored daily and treated so it is always in excellent condition. The buyer  had the water tested by a well known local inspector who took the water test from the kitchen sink. He swears he treated the faucet with fire to clean out any bacteria but the water test came back with Total Coliform in the water. So our buyer who has a new baby is completely freaked out. The seller is confused as to how this can be. A new test is being ordered on Monday. I have my sellers cleaning the faucet with Clorox up inside the spout in hopes of cleaning out any bacteria that may be up in it that could have created the test results. I am looking for any ideas on how to deal with this. Have you ever had water tests results on a community well different then at the home? Would love to get your feedback.

Thanks
