Arm yourself. Stand up and fight. Any day in which you are not actively Making Rain is a day when you are leaving the door open for your competition and large lead aggregation companies to come in and take over your market, your territory, and your clients.

I've often said that ActiveRain is for those in the Real Estate industry who wish to connect, grow their networks and their businesses. One thing I have not articulated is how much The ActiveRain Real Estate Network is designed for Rain Makers. You are here to grow, to learn, to share your experiences and bring greater joy to the work you do through connecting with like minded individuals. You are also here to grow your businesses through Rain Making.

This means come and share your ideas and experiences and learn from others, then IMPLEMENT, strategies that will help you grow as a professional. Bring in the business, either more of it, or become more effective at bringing in the business you are already bringing in. Do not sit idly by and be complacent while some large lead company takes your client from you.  Make them work for it.  You contribute to this industry, as a contributor you must demand that you receive the benefits of your contribution. Do not sell yourself short by not servicing your needs. Every day, or every week, depending upon how you set up your schedule, a significant portion of your time should be spent on marketing for new business. If you do not you will soon find yourself looking for a new job. Use the tools here at ActiveRain:

  • Share and try ideas
  • Develop relationships
  • Learn from each others experiences
  • Use the regional blogging tools
  • Use ActiveRain as your competitive advantage
  • reach out to your clients, and your market every working day

Every day is a Rain Day. Make Rain and close deals.

Thank You.

Caleb, things are changing so rapidly that I find I cannot afford to neglect my involvement here on AR. It has become part of my daily routine to consistently blog, comment, and make contacts.

Caleb,

You are so right! We as Agents need to use everything at our disposal to keep our name out there and Active Rain is great for that.

Also, the learning that we are privy to here is priceless! I am always amazed at how much people are willing to share in experiences, ideas, techonology and sheer inspiration.

Words of wisdom Caleb the key, which you hit on, is implementation. Ideas are good and wonderful but if nothing is ever done with then the idea is just that, an idea. The difference between ideas and great ideas is someone took the time to try it out and make rain. I wrote a large email to my agents how they can (not in the same words) make rain with there business and one of the items included AR.

I see Rich is making a it a RAINY Friday night :) gj Rich :)

you're so right!  the minute we stop learning from each other, we're dead in the water.  always seek out the ones who are further along the learning curve than you are! and AR is a great place to do just that.

I was raining so much today that I blogged for free. There may be those that have to have points for blogging but I blog sometimes for free.

Hope those search engines are working overtime here at AR.

We all need to share our ideas, what we have tried, what has worked and what has not. It's changing fast.

Great point Caleb. We are our biggest asset - and also our biggest detractor.

This wasn't a good rain day for me, but it has been a wonderful rain week! In large part thanks to Active Rain - shout outs to Rick & Ines for their expired letter suggestion and Broker for his great inspiration and Maureen for being well Maureen.

Being a rain maker is a tough job.  Believe me, I know.  But like you said, Caleb, it's all about using the tools to get the job done.

I try to be a rain maker by not only reading, but implementing small changes every day (some not so small!)  It's funny too how you can read a suggestion and your mind takes it and studies it and turns it and studies it some more, and before you know it it's turned into a full fledged brilliant idea!!!

Hey Caleb... sometimes when you make rain... you end up peeing on someone. Like I did on Jim Lee today in my blog.

THANKS for creating a safe space where if a person piddles, they can still clean up the puddle.

Caleb, some of these posts (like this one) should be combined into a guide for new agents. I think new agents (or new to the network) miss out on a lot of good posts. Maybe a place could be set up to make them more accessible and easier to find. -Charles

I've heard that people move on average once every 5-7 years. That statistic underscores how important it is to have a large, well maintained database and how crucial it is to continuously lead generate. ActiveRain provides the innovation, inspiration and motivation to help us focus on this critical business activity.

Prospect Prospect Prospect. I like the analogy of Rain Maker because we alone are responsible for our business income. If you have any suggestions you're willing to share than I am willing to learn.

Caleb, I am going to use your post as an example when I am telling others about Active Rain. In fact I may just copy your post and put it into an email to send out with invitations.

I just got my AR cards, they are awesome.

Implementation is not only a  key for ActiveRain, it's a key for conferences such as  CyberProfessionals and NAR. We try to stay a day after a conference to debrief, to put down the best ideas, and a plan for implementation. It's fresh in our minds, and we don't have the distractions of being back home or back at the office. Couldn't do it on this trip (we head back this afternoon) but it's still a constant goal.

Thanks so much, i think its great artilcle espically at this time when the market is slow and lots of realtors go out for long vacation.  This is good to remind them that everyday is a rain day as you put it.  People are still looking for homes, trying to sell and this is great time to get leads for early next year.

The bulk of transactions you will do in next few months will come from the contacts you make now.  Start planting your seeds now for good harvest in 1st quarter of next year.

Thanks!

Caleb,

You are so right!  And thank you for reminding us all that we need to do something proactive every day - isn't that what real 'growth' is all about anyway?
