New Jersey newspapers and media were flooded with the good news of the best retail year since "06.
I saw many indications of an upswing in the "confidence" level of the public this year at Christmas time. First of all, I saw many more homes lit up with Holiday lights. Maybe the Public doesn't think that Christmas is out of season or politically incorrect! I remember energy crisis years when the lights were out at Christmas to be followed by a year with abundant exposure. The energy crisis didn't change, but the public perception of it did. The Public will do as they see fit!
The Public does what they believe rather than what the media dictates. The number of SUV's on the road indicate the kind of vehicle the Public wants to drive rather than the subcompact that we are encouraged to use.
We are hearing so much doom and gloom about the economy, yet we had the biggest retail year in several years. Whasup?
Are people feeling more confident or are they getting tired of the bad press. Buyers and Sellers will soon be tired of the media as well!
