I cleaned out my desk at the office the other day. Packed all my file boxes, photos, awards, paper clips, et al into the back seat of the car and headed home. (notice that I give awards and paperclips the same significance)
They now reside in my garage where they will be transported on January 29th to a new home an hour and a half down the road. My contract at RE/MAX Aboutowne Realty Corp. in Oakville will end on January 31st. My new contract at RE/MAX a-b Realty Ltd. in Stratford, Ontario will commence February 1st.
Am I excited? Yes definitely. Nervous? Mildly. Am I going to a new job? No. I will be selling the same product, just in a new community. Having lived in Stratford in my younger years I am pretty familiar with the area. Yes, I will have to get up to speed on all the street names but the population of Stratford is approximately 32,000. The task does not feel overwhelming.
I'm coming from Oakville where the population is 175,000 and growing rapidly. Oakville has continued to grow steadily since the mid 1980's and it hasn't stopped no matter what the Canadian economy does. There are new areas here that I haven't even ventured into yet.
So I'm starting fresh. I refuse to say I'm starting all over. I would hope that the knowledge and skills I have gleaned from working as a real estate professional in this industry for the past 22 years will bode me well and provide the foundation I need to build up my new business.
I am working on my business and marketing plan. It's time to take a hard look at the past 22 years to see what has worked for me and where I can improve.
It's time to write some new vows. What shall I promise?
Wait - I think I remember an old saying from way back.
Under Promise And Over Deliver
Sounds like a plan.
