10 Tips: A Checklist to Ready Your Home for an Open House
Here's a handy checklist for sellers to help get ready for an open house. Obviously, each item requires quite a bit of work before it's completed, but remember - checklists are meant to remind us briefly of the tasks that need to be done before we can say we're ready.

1. Sort & Discard: to get rid of items you don’t want to pay to move
2. Pre-Pack: to get each room cleared of all but the essentials you need to live
3. Move it out: so every space is clear of clutter, including packed boxes and excess furniture
4. Prepare: for each room to have one obvious purpose that buyers can understand
5. Repair & Mend: so the house, outbuildings and grounds look well-cared for
6. Scrub it down: so every room and space is clean and fresh
7. Freshen the look: so old furniture looks updated, bedding looks inviting, baths look spa-like
8. And Lift… and Move: Arrange furniture so rooms are shown to best advantage
9. Light it Up: so the sun shines in during daytime, and lamps illuminate every corner after dark
10. Get Entertained: so you leave the house to your agent for the duration of the open house
