I love the Jetsons!! I recall fondly many afternoons spent watching this futuristic cartoon and wishing and hoping for some of the technology that the Jetsons enjoyed. What wonderous things they had. A robot to clean the house, a machine to dress them, a machine to feed them a car that FLEW!! and then folded up into a brief case. Man those were some great ideas.
As I look around my office and home I realize that many of the futuristic ideas presented on the Jetsons have actually become standard items that you can find most anywhere. We all have microwaves, cell phones, flat screen TV's, wireless internet, IPADs, IPODS, NOOK e-readers, little tiny robot like machines that vacuum the carpet for you, laser technology to assist in medical treatments, and on and on. What a wonderful electronic world!!
I LOVE TECHNOLOGY, but... with technology comes change. Change that we all need to embrace whether we want to or not. I have been participating in a dialogue on Linkedin with many other title professionals and the discussion has revolved around technology and how it has impacted our business. With technology has come the advent of our services being cheaply farmed out to other countries. Many large underwriters and servicing entities are using the services of OFFSHORE title plants for title commitments and policies. While some of these title plants and OFFSHORE companies do a decent job of typing policies and commitments, I would suggest that many of the people who are actually doing the work have no clue about what they are typing and how these documents impact the final recipient. These employees are simply regurgitating information that they have culled via electronic means through various and sundry web-sites. Thus, because of technology many many small independent title agencies have been forced to close their doors because they can't compete with the low cost being charged by this companies.
However, that does not mean that small independent title agents are just going to lie down and take the fall. Small independent title agents are integral to a smooth and cohesive settlement process. These small agents have no choice but to work harder for less money. This offers you, the Realtor, a great opportunity to WOW your client, the buyer or seller, by showing them that you are considering their bottom line and that you have partnered with a company who offers excellent LOCAL SERVICE and A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with your buyer or seller.
