Ready to Own an Electric Car in New Jersey?

Under legislation working its way through the NJ state legislature, residents could qualify for tax incentives for an electric vehicle.  It's a 6-bill package that also includes benefits for businesses that buy electric vehicles or install charging stations, and mandates charging centers at shopping centers and service areas on some of the state's major highways.

Proponents say the measures would help the environment and create good-paying jobs while making the state more enticing to the electric car industry.  The bills have been passed out of the Appropriations Committee, and now go for full Assembly consideration.  Similiar bills have been introduced in the Senate.

"These bills are job creation and economic development measures, plain and simple," said Wayne DeAngelo, D-Hamilton (Mercer County). "If we send the message that New Jersey is welcoming toward electric vehicles, then we'll see more sales and attract an entirely new industry that can bring new high-paying jobs for working class residents."

Hi Joe,

Electric is good. I can't wait until most vehicles in this country are electric.

Thanks for the post
