Screencast [#1] - ActiveRain Photo Properties & Hyperlinks

By
Education & Training with Tech Training for You!

I haven't done screencasts in a while, but I've wanted to get back into doing them. Here is a question that came up today in an email, so I thought I'd do a class in screencast format to demonstrate some of the points instead of just writing about them.

What are some of the ways you can size a photo or graphic after you have inserted it into your ActiveRain blog? How would you go about creating a hyperlink for the photo so it could be clicked? Are there any differences of note between the most used browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome). Take a look at this video and I'll answer these questions.

LOL, you'll hear my phone ring right at the end so I had to cut a little more abruptly than I would have liked but I was essentially done.

Hope you learned something new and perhaps you like this new vlog format :)
I hope to do more like this soon.

This blog is all about technology and helping you to use it smarter! Your digital footprint is your chance to attract new clients. What kind of impression are you making via your website, blog, and social media? We’ll be talking about that! Are you as productive as you can be? What apps might help you out? Do you know how to use all the best tools inside the apps? I enjoy photography and videography, you can expect to see those topics also on this blog.
Are you ready to learn?
Welcome to Craig’s Classroom!

PS - get ready for some homework… :)

Hi Craig, thanks for that little class.  It was really helpful to have a visual.  I hope I can be that well-versed with video presentations as you are someday.  FYI, I use Chrome and I've done all that you did here BUT I was taking the "constrain" checkmark off of the settings.  Maybe that was what was causing the problem with inserting a hyperlink.  I'll try doing it with the "constrain" area still checked off and see if I don't have better luck.  Thank you for the help!

Craig,

Great post.  I've used Jing, as well as other TechSmith products.  I also use Camtasia as well.  Great products for teaching and giving takeaways.

Barb - sounds intriguing - all the best!

Don - yes, techsmith makes good apps

Tammie - glad to hear!

Pamela - does that mean you are one of the IE holdouts ;)

Erica - yes we keep IE for "those websites" you know the ones that are not updated for 'modern' browsers

Craig -- Love the screencast.  Very well done.  I have been using IE since there was IE and I have had so many issues lately.  Don't know why. I really need to get into Firefox or Chrome.  Thanks for the great info and the education.

Lauren - thanks for the positive feedback - I also read that Yahoo BlogLog is going away - Brad wrote about it here. Brad is one to follow for that kind of stuff - he's very good at finding good gadgets to recommend. I'm not sure what will replace it but something will probably come along soon...
