“Surviving Your Serengeti – Move Forward or Perish”

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty

Enter the world of captivating beauty, where the strong survive and the weak perish.  The new book by Stefan Swanepoel, "Surviving Your Serengeti: 7 Skills to Master Business and Life"is a tale of struggle and survival on the Serengeti Plains.  Every year, when the drought season descends upon the Serengeti, about 1.5 mln of wildebeest start a treacherous 1,000-mile journey in search of food and water.  Thousands of them become pray to crocodiles, lions, and other predators, others die of exhaustion.

An alternative to taking this perilous trip is to do nothing, face the drought, and most likely perish. But this is not a viable choice in the realm of a wildebeest.  This animal has a relentless desire to move forward, in spite of all the perils he has to face during this long and arduous trip. At least, by taking a risk, he has a chance to survive.

Stefan Swanepoel suggests the skills of the Serengeti inhabitants may be adapted to our personal and business lives. By mastering those basic skills, we prepare ourselves to deal with adversities and to recognize new opportunities coming our way.  As a result, we are able to thrive in our constantly changing environment.

To illustrate the types of skills we need to master, Stefan takes us on an enchanting journey.  His main characters, Sean and his wife Ashley, travel to Africa, where they discover the world of harsh reality, but at the same time of magnificent beauty.  At the beginning of their trip, Sean and Ashley observe herds of wildebeest and develop admiration for this animal.  They discover the first skill of survival:

ENDURANCE - "keeps our minds going when our bodies want to quit, and gives us the mental capability to continue moving forward despite the obstacles, hardships, pain, fatigue, or pain in our path."

So will you be like a wildebeest and choose to move forward, or do nothing, and perish?

Download and read the first two chapters of this enchanting book, and then take the QUIZ to find out what animal you are.

Make sure to get your copy on March 1st and continue reading.  In this tale of survival, Stefan makes images of Africa come alive.  He grew up in Kenya, and his in-depth understanding of life and death on the majestic Plains of Serengeti comes through.  I believe you will see "Surviving Your Serengeti" on a best seller list.

So *that's* what a wildebeest looks like! I'd hate to get in the way of one of those. Nice review of the book.

So, you're a giraffe, are you? I love knowing AR folks who are the various animals as I read the book. I bought the Kindle version yesterday. The book is already climbing the charts, and it is not even officially released until tomorow.
