Want to work for Peanuts? only monkeys work for peanuts. A vent on commissiondectomies

Today, because it's getting milder and fhe first flock of Canada Geese were spotted on my walkabout, I feel rejuvneted!  Energized to write another Blog on a cloudy but warmer ( 3 dfgrees-balmy!)

It's becoming a pain to me to see Agents cutting their commission rightfully due to them for some truly obscure and non-senscial reasons and/or rationalizaation.

" My Aunt by marriage bought the property, so I gave her a discount~!:" or how about this one," They couyldn't close without me cutting one point!" or even better" They bought from me before so I gave them a discount of 1 percent. And the best overall " well my major competitor is advertiising reduced commissions on listinga and Sellling..."

Either you're a professional who is going to sell  yourself for all your worth, or are you going to work for peanuts?

In an article I penned some time ago in REM, THE REAL ESTATE MAGAZINE, CANADIAN PUBLICATION, I addressed this issue quite some time ago.  Are some of us setting ourselfves up for a lot of RED in our bank account?  What standards are we showing to the Consumer.  I don't know about your Accontant or Lawyer or Bank Manager, but do they reduce their fess and or reduce their services?

We have by times, become "tarts," for the Consujmer to jump on our commissions which we work damn hard for in both our contries.

Want to give the Consumer a break? ok, then offer to pay some of the closing costs or moving costs or pay down the Mortgage by a 1/4 point or offer a Concierage Service on move in day.  We study hard to improve our skills by taking courses such as SRES, CRS and ABr progams.  All of these and man;y more that have hit the Education of our peers have vastly improved not only our lisitng skills but our NEGOTIATING SKILLS.

Surgeons get paid enormous sums because they've honed their craft.  Years of study cause us to be referred to them due to theri success rate. The same holds true for Attorneys and Accountants.

Why do some of us cave in to the demands of the Seller or the Buyer.  Have some of us gone beyond caring abouat our reputation as a deliverer of Professional services.

C'mon guys, don't succumb to "working for peanuts," unless of course you want to emulate the monkeys!

Be a Super Star and defend your commissions.

Be the pro you always wished to be.

ps. for those who conitnue to succumb, how much do you pay for a litre or a gallon of gas today/  Keep on cutting and you'll be dirving a Smart Car (tm) soon and treding inthat Beemer~~~
