Dog Wearing GlassesToday Little One had to go to the optometrist.  I couldn’t believe the array of technical equipment used to measure every facet of her eyes and vision.  (I was thankful yet again that my husband has good insurance!)

As a curious person, I wanted to see everything for myself.  They were so sweet to put up with me.  It was one of the simplest things that really got to me.

They asked Little One to read letters with one eye covered.  Then they asked her to cover her other eye with a little paddle that had holes drilled into it.  When she looked through the holes, she could read much further than she could normally.

I don’t wear glasses or contacts, so what may be really ordinary for some of you who do was AMAZING to me.  Why could she see better looking through the little holes???

Apparently, looking through the little holes focused the light on the back of her eyes, enabling her to see more clearly.

Oh yes, I smiled at Little One and said the phrase she hears all too often, “There’s a blog in that!”  <Eye roll from Little One.>

But just think about that – she could see better when she could see less.

That is HUGE.  What if you concentrated on the most important parts of your business and quit letting the time wasters get in your way?

What if you could tune out the things that really didn’t matter?

What if, when you were off work, you allowed yourself to really let work go?

How much better would you be at EVERYTHING?

Sarah, I visit for my dose of wisdom. =)  I will take this one to heart today...focus, focus, focus.

Here's my LO clowning around.  Your choice of pictures reminded me of this one from a few years back.

Dawn - Wow, since 18 months old?!  Little One wants contacts, too, but I said no for now.  We'll start with glasses and maybe move to contacts in a few years.  She's pretty responsible, but a friend's sister didn't take care of her contacts (had a new baby, working, taking care of everyone but herself) got an infection and lost her sight in one eye.  That scared me enough to say it's glasses right now!

Keith & Robin - Your dog looks cute in glasses!

Maggie - LOL!  Love that one!!  It's easy for me to say "focus", but really, really hard to do.

That dog is priceless with those glasses on.  My boy twin is blind as a bat.  We didn't realize until he needed to get a drivers license.  They PASSED him on the condition he go to an eye doctor.  He couldn't see if the light was red or green until we were on top of it.  Talk about "imaginary brakes".  Just wait, Sarah, you have driver's ed to look forward too.

I had severe astigmatism and needed glasses since I was 8.  Got contacts when I was 14 and had Lasik 9 years ago.  It was one of the best things I ever did.  It took a while for me to stop pushing the imaginary glasses up the bridge of my nose.  I'm telling my 16 year old that I will pay for her Lasik as soon as she's old enough.  15 minutes and your eye troubles are behind you.  Actually my surgery only took 12 minutes.

I forgot, please tell LO that all she needs is to believe that she looks good and the rest will take care of itself.  When I got my glasses the first time and the inevitable "four eyes" remark was made to me I quickly grabbed a friend's sunglasses, put them over my glasses and quipped back, "make that six, it's much better," as I gave him a huge grin. Having foiled the little rascal's attempt to belittle me he never bothered me again.  No one else did either as it was obvious it wasn't going to work.  Work it girl!

Sarah,

OOOOOOO, that's deep!

What I remember most about eye exams is:  Is this one better....or this one.  This one or this one......

Chris - Tall One can go take Driver's Ed next year.  I'm already shaking.

Keith & Robin - He's on his way!

Maggie - Brianna truly believes she is beautiful and wouldn't understand if someone tried to belittle her looks.  Glasses may end up being a weak spot, I don't know.  I think it helps that she has friends that wear them.  She thinks her friends look good in them, so I think she'll get used to them on herself in time.  Thank you for the encouragement for her!!

Lucky - Yep, they did that, too!

Matt - Aww, thanks!  I just pay attention.

Nick - More with less ... we're getting very zen, aren't we?

Janie - Very much so!!

Aziz - We may be watching, but I think he prefers Dr. Who if they're on at the same time.  ;o)

Tom - I'm still 20/20 or whatever, my Mom, Dad and brother all have glasses.  They also have bright, beautiful blue eyes.  My eyes are a weird greenish-grayish-nothing, but they work great.  I think it was a fair trade.

Well easier said than done in my A.D.D. brain.   I would love to stay focused but I am so easily distracted.... yet.  I can NOT work in silence... I need sound around me when I work .. either radio or people.   Go figure that one out for me and I'll Kiss ya!!

Nick - You are one zen surfer dude.  :o)

Lysa - I believe it!!  I wish I could let go and ride on weekends, too -- but I've never even been on a motorcycle.  Would one of your friends let me try being a biker chick for a day?

Dez - I need noise, too!  I get to the office before anyone else and play music until they get their noisy selves there.  I have to have distractions.  I have about eight pages open on my computer while I work and cycle through them while I think.  Somehow what looks like distraction makes me focus better.

Chris - Oh, good point!  You can spread yourself too thin and you aren't doing yourself any favors.

Ginger - The devil's in the details!  That's it!  LOL!
