Saturday, March 19, Wake Forest Heritage will host a neighborhood-wide yard sale! The yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. - noon and the event will be advertised in the newspaper as well as the Wake Weekly for a welcome turnout. Although signs will be posted throughout the neighborhood the week of the yard sale, please feel free to post your own signs or a balloon to direct traffic to your home.

This is a fantastic opportunity to de-clutter your home! Here are some proactive tips that can help you optimize your living space:

-  Kitchenware can be a curse or a blessing when it comes to saving space. You may have a toaster, coffee maker, espresso machine, coffee grinder, electric can opener, knife sharpener, George Foreman press, electric pancake griddle, waffle maker, or any other assortment of gadgets taking up counter and storage space in your kitchen. If you have acquired a lot of neat kitchen tools that you simply don't use regularly, it may be time to reconsider their practicality.

-  If you have recently upgraded your furniture, home entertainment center, decorating motif, sporting equipment, or even flatware, now is a great time to find your old things a new home. Too many mugs? Old books? Movies? CDs? Board games? They might be ideal for someone else.

-  Clothing, especially for growing kids, is something we as consumers tend to cycle through frequently. This spring, go through your closet and make sure your storage space isn't being taken up by clothing that you don't wear or may not fit properly anymore. The yard sale will be an excellent opportunity to reclaim your closet- and if it doesn't sell, donating to Goodwill is always a viable option, too.

-  Old toys, swing sets, stuffed animals, or video games your children have out-grown are also optimal for yard sales. Even if your kids no longer love their old toys, they may very well be perfect for another child.

-  For parents sending their children off to college this Fall, yard sales are a great way to find your young adult affordable furniture and odds and ends, so be sure to check out what your neighbors are getting rid of!
