Louisiana's Economic Development (LED) group plans to spend approximately $5 million in 2011 to market the state of Louisiana to business executives around the US.
Competition among states and municipalities is fierce in convincing companies to relocate jobs to their region and its important that Louisiana's message about our strong business climate reach the right audience. There has been a string of good economic news for Louisiana lately; our business climate has been repeatedly touted as welcoming to small business relocation and we have won several major business relocation and expansion competitions.
This advertising is particularly important for Baton Rouge. As a result of the last census, our local area population has grown to in excess of 800,000. This growth has pushed Baton Rouge into a new, larger peer group of cities that we now compete with for business relocations and expansions. I'm hopeful that some additional funds can be found during the year to beef this advertising program up.
