THE TEN COMANDMENTS DAY FOUR

EXODUS 20: 8,9,10,11

Remember ths sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour and do all thy work. But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God; in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thymanservant nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates. For in six days the Lord made heaven anf earth, the sea and all that in them is,and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it.

Now as some of you may remember from a past post that I had written, this is one of the commandments. that i have struggled with. I think Alex gave me the best response when unlike most of the others he told me he would answer me if I asked him but I wasn,t going to like his answer. I have always believed in fulfilling your responsibilities and some times these two things seem to conflict. But I do believe that God lets you know when you are about to do something to displease him and if we are obedient we don't do it. Minus one occasion which I really felt was necessary I have changed my outlook on the sabbath, and I,ll tell you what. The Lord as usual knew what he was doing when he ordered a day of rest, to spend with him and with your family it is extremely refreshing. And although this is probably a copout the week that I felt i had to spend some time working on Sunday i made it a point to observe his sabbath both all day saturday and for Sunday service. I know of one of the most if not the most successful bakeries in our county that closes every Sunday for the Lord's day. This is unheard of for a bakery having spent years in the food business the are whole industries that count on the after church crowd and I have the utmost rerspect for those who find honoring the Lord more important that montary gains.

Thank You and God Bless You

You must be speaking about the Holland American Bakery, in biblical times the Sabbath or seventh day is Saturday not Sunday. Look at your calender the week begins on Sunday not Monday. In America Sunday is what we have made the sabbath because it was convenient for industry.

Oh, by the way if any of you people have the opportunity to be in Sussex County NJ you must go to the Holland American Bakery they are great!

Gary,

Sunday became the Lords day because it was Sinday after he was crucified that he appeared to Mary Magdalene.MATHEW 28:1 , MARK 16:9, JOHN 20:1 ACTS 20:7We can all learn something by studying the bible. But I do agree they are a great bakery

Hugh:  When I first got into real estate, I was working every Sunday (something I had not done much of in the past).  I really didn't like it.  As time went on, it really bothered me.  I try to keep Sunday's as the Lord's Day.  With real estate, it's virtually impossible not to work on a Sunday, especially in my market, because that's when people come to the mountains is over the weekend.  So, I do try to make it by appointment so I can have more control.

Paul also spoke about this,

Rom 14:5

One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.

Rom 14:6

He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord.

Good psot!

No one wanted to discuss this issue apparently!? lol. It's funny how nothing shuts up the congregation like a sermon on something they want to avoid thinking about.

Orlando -Good choice of scripture another way to look at it

Cheri'- Even I had to give more thought than usual to this one, but if we don,t face the difficult ones we will never grow in our walk and in our faith. If Christianity was easy we would probably have alot more Christians

PS we still have some real interesting ones to discuss

Armando got it right on the head...... God gave the Sabbath for man...... for rest.... and to honor Him....

Wheather Saturday or Sunday... there should be no stone throwing as to which one is correct....the thing is to DO IT.....

It is a day to rejuvinate and relax.... to get together with family, friends and the Lord...to remember all His wonderful blessings... to learn from others testamonies and the sermons you hear how to please Him and what his will is, also to learn his ways......

Making it a religious time out of duty and obligation is NOT the way to do it...it should be filled with JOY, peace and righteousness.......

=-)

Dan I tend to think that this is one of the times when it is comforting to know that God knows what is in my heart.
