Choosing the Right Agent... (Advice)

By
Real Estate Agent with Liz Moore & Associates

There are tons of real estate agents out there, but it is so important to find one that works well for you. You should think of the following when looking for the right agent for you!

  1. Credentials. There are different ones which mean different things, but designations may be important to you. Or whether or not they have their Broker's license. For example, I have my e-Pro, where I learned about how to use technology to help me assist my buyers and sellers.
  2. Length in the business. Being a newbie is not a bad thing (especially if they have a mentor or are surrounded by seasoned agents in the office), but sometimes you want someone who has a few years under their belt - especially if you have a special type of transaction. For example, if you are looking for a property manager, it may be important to you to employ someone who is a member of NARPM (National Association of Residential Property Managers).
  3. Brokerage support. Your relationship is actually with the brokerage even though you will typically only ever see the salesperson you decide to work with. Good to know what the company offers to that salesperson to help them facilitate your transaction. For example, EXIT Realty has a dynamic digital marketing system, which in addition to me pricing it correctly based on condition, helps me get my listings sold for the highest price in the shortest amount of time.

Because the real estate agent works a facilitator throughout the transaction, keeping in contact with all parties to get you smoothly to the closing table, it is important to find the right professional to work for you!

Good advice.   Being new is not neccessarily bad.  The are working with less people and shouldbe up on the latest in law changes and schooling.

That is very true, that is why it is so important for people to find out what works best for them! Thanks for your response :-)

Good advice.  I'm glad you were a little bit vague and pointed out that it is best to find out what works best for them.  Not everyone needs someone with a lot of designations after their name (or even know what they mean) and I think some new agents are great and some "old timers" are not up on the times.  It really is about wha the consumer is looking for and what will be best for them.

@John & Kasey: I have to be vague. I do not know what every consumer wants (sometimes they don't know either), but hopefully this will be helpful to someone. Thanks for your response :-)
