According to a recent press release, the Freehold Regional High School District announced that it has been honored by The College Board with a place on its AP Achievement List for opening AP classroom doors to a significantly broader pool of students, while maintaining or improving the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher. FRHSD is one of only 388 districts that were selected nationwide for this honor.
The AP Achievement List nationally recognizes and acknowledges those districts who have worked successfully to expand AP access, performance and commitment to increasing student achievement. Those 388 districts recognized “opened AP classroom doors to a significantly broader pool of students, while maintaining or improving the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher,” the score typically needed to earn college credit, said Catherine Nti, Executive Director, K-12 Services, of The College Board.
According to the New Jersey Department of Education’s 2009-10 School Report Card data, a full 20.6 percent of FRHSD’s 11,800 students were placed in AP classes, which is one percentage point higher than the state average. Of the 2,354 students who took AP tests in 2009-10, 80.5 percent scored 3 or higher.
The Freehold Regional High School District is comprised of high schools from Manalapan, Marlboro, Freehold Township, Freehold Boro, Colts Neck and Howell.
