This week in earthquakes - Intermountain Corridor

As part of a hobby, I like to observe weekly earthquake activity for the Intermountain Corridor (Utah to Yellowstone),

I am always interested in the number of small earthquakes in the region and also the color of the incidents.. This week's map puts the number at 53 (We still have ways to go to reach a predicted 700 for the year). Instead of the usual yellow markers (in the last week) today we have two blue markers (in the last 24 hours - one here for this morning in Utah).

If nothing else, I like surprise. Most of these incidents pass unnoticed, although I expect visitors to Yellowstone may well be aware of the "Rocking Rockies". You may care to research what is occurring in your neck of the woods.

This post is meant to inform and never to alarm.
I just have an unusual hobby.

I don't know if I could live near that and not be alarmed!  It is a bit of a unique hobby. 700 for the year?  WOW.

You do have an unusual hobby!  So, if someone asks you "What's shaking?" They better be prepared for an actual answer! :-)

Larry:

I love your hobby!  What fun.  Where is the web address where you access your weekly earthquake activity information.  Living in California, I have an interest in earthquakes too.  Have a nice earthquake free week.

Never thought about the seismic activity in the Rockies. Guess I need to pay more attention! Enjoy the day!

Navona - it's a living earth. Most have othr things to keep them occupied.

Brenda - I let others make their own discoveries. Mostly off peoples' radar.

Evelyn - My closest Seismic interpretation is from University of Utah. I Google "earthquakes UT". You could try something similar for your area. Should produce heaps of good reading.

Wayne - So common no one worries here. You might Yahoo (earthquake Florida) for your local excitement).
