Evaluating your website? More important than you may think.

Have you had your website up and running for years? Like most of us, we haven't even thought about a website analysis (traffic audit) and, although it's ranking just fine in the search engines (or so we think), what do you really know about your website, is it generating customers, and really getting noticed?

I was talking to a well known SEO/SEM (Search Engine Optimization/Search Engine Marketing) guy this week from eWebTraffic, and was impressed with some of the findings with my website analysis. Heck, I really didn't know how important "landing pages" or "backlinks" were in everything we write about on the internet, and I’m pretty internet savvy, and have written about this subject in the past.

So, with all of this new information, I also started looking at various companies and software for my newsletter marketing, but also wanted a little more than just an email campaign. A lot of people use email campaign software like Constant Contact, Campaigner, SendBlaster, and like most, we use them to keep our name out there, and hoping to generate sales, leads, etc.

Last week I engaged in a little webinar with a company called Act-On. This software allows business users to integrate their customer relationship efforts across a variety of popular tools in one easy-to-use interface. Its capabilities range from building lead generation to achieve better marketing results and manage their email marketing campaign, forms and landing pages to monitoring their website visitors, social media, etc. What was most impressive was that I could actually see where my customers are going on the internet, what websites they are viewing, what they are looking for, what pages they were viewing on my website, etc.

Now I’ve got a better handle on my website, campaigns, customer internet activity, and not spending thousands of dollars to reach my objective. With a small business, it’s nice to know we can do this ourselves so easily.
