Realtors - Do You Find it Difficult to talk about Home Staging with your client?

Home Stager with JenJen's Home Staging

It's hard for some realtors to bring up Home Staging with their clients.  If seems to be harder to discuss the more the seller needs help.

Make it easy on yourself.

Contact your favorite Home Stager and get a nice supply of their business cards and flyers.

Add the stagers business card and flyer to the material you give your client.  Let them find it on their own, read the material and show some interest.  This makes it easier to start the discussion.

It may be that the seller didn't realize their home needed staging until they see the flyer.  They may then take another look at their house and ask you if you think they need to stage their home.

This takes the pressure off you and gives the seller the information they need to sell their home fast.

Good luck!

Truthfully, the thought of speaking about home staging with a client has never even crossed my mind, let alone bothered me.

HI Jen!

Generally, most Realtors who call me on 'behalf' of their clilent don't want to hear about the value of our service, the quality of the materials that we'll use in the staging, or the extra services that my company provides.  I can spend 30 minutes describing our staging packages, and services, and the only thing that the Realtor's client will be told:  the price.   Such a shame, particularly when considering the fiduciary responsibility that Realtors have to their clients.

Tom, I agree which is why I usually ask the agent to have their client contact me.  Especially based on the comment from SaraMana Properties.

Some realtors still haven't come the realization that Home Staging is vital.  Now I'm not saying every single home needs to be staged.  I've gone to Open Houses where the seller knows how to show a home but I've also been to houses where the buyer won't even look at the entire house.  Those sellers need to stage.

Most of my client interaction is consultations.  I provide the client with the information they need and they stage their own home 80% of the time.  The cost is miminal and the payoff is huge.

If a home clearer needs to be staged and the agent doesn't at least bring up the subject and let the buyer decide is doing a disservice to their client, in my opinion.
