Greenwich Village Apartments for Sale : Bing and Bing Condo's

What is a Bing and Bing Building?

Bing and Bing were a set of prominent real estate developers in the early 20th Century in New York City.  The development company was founded by brother's Leo and Alexander Bing.  They were responsible for a number of famous buildings throughout New York City including the Alden at 225 Central Park West, a variety of Park Avenue addresses, and including some of the most desirable pre-war condominiums available in the Greenwich Village and West Village Neighborhoods.

Bing and Bing worked with another notable figure in the real estate world of the time, the architect Emery Roth.  The combination of the architecture from Emery Roth and the development from Bing and Bing created a combination that was extremely desirable at the time and arguably even more so now.

The phrase commonly used to describe the apartments and the buildings of Bing and Bing are "stately and spacious apartments in elegant buildings that had an Art Deco feel." What that means is you will find generous layouts, often including foyer's, sunken living rooms, wood burning fireplaces, detailed base and crown moldings, generous closet space.  People feel at home when they walk into a Bing and Bing apartment, there is a combination of being able to live quite comfortably along with being able to entertain, which is unique.

In Greenwich Village there are just a few Bing and Bing condominium buildings, including 59 West 12th Street, 299 and 302 West 12th Street and 45 Christopher Street.  2 Horatio St is also a Bing and Bing building, but it is a cooperative apartment building.

There is a very limited supply of these types of apartments and because of the desirable nature of condominium product as a whole in Greenwich Village and the West Village, when an apartment comes on the market in one of these buildings it's often purchased quickly.  The Greenwich Village condominium market has been quite competitive this spring and early summer as the inventory has been tight along with a steady amount of demand.
