Fourth of July Parade with American Flags, Johnson Parade, Whitman County, WA

Organized over 30 years ago by members of the Druffel clan, the Johnson Parade today draws up to 10,000 spectators, who line both sides of a one-mile stretch of country road to watch the informal, often inventive, and always patriotic parade of neighbors and well-wishers from across the Palouse.

Rod, looks like fun. I always like to go to parades. We have one in our city that celebrates Queen Vctoria's birthday on or near the 24th of May.

@Ted: We're privileged to count a number of Canadian radio stations as clients of ours, so naturally we sent them Canada Day greetings.  I've never been to Victoria before, but my parents spent some time in your lovely city years ago, raved about the gardens specifically and the area generally.  We hope to visit ourselves sometime.

@William:  Amen to that.  I'd venture to say that our local 4th of July celebration, of which the Johnson Parade is only the kickoff to a full day of festivities, culminating in a community BBQ and fireworks in the park below my home, is as quintessential an American Fourth of July celebration as you're likely to find anywhere in the country.  Of COURSE, I'm biased! :>)

Happy Fourth!
