While dining on wings over a jug of draft beer last week in the company of a few local Realtors the conversation turned to movies and someone suggested that the film industry has always portrayed us in a somewhat negative light.
I think that image stems from the long gone days when real estate sales was pretty much an old boys club and most of the rules and regulations governing the business of real estate had yet to be written, or am I just stereotyping?
Anyhow we got onto naming movies that had Realtors as characters. My favorite has to be Carolyn Burnham, the Broker played by Annette Bening in American Beauty. What makes her character beleivable and interesting to watch is that most Realtors (and some husbands) will swear the character is based on someone they know.
Another dark but interesting study of the business of Real Estate sales is the movie Glengarry Glen Ross which paints Realtors as less than charismatic to say the least.
A number of movies and characters came up in the conversation and I was wondering what movies any of you feel are worthy of note in this category?
