Editing Blog Posts, Associating, and Using Localism, Help!

Hello to all,

I have three questions that I hope you can help me with.

I have just joined Active Rain this past week, and I'm really enjoying the site.  I have posted two blog entries.  Now, I wish I had posted them to some of the groups that I hadn't joined yet when I created the entries.  So that leads me to question #1:

If I go back into a blog entry and hit the checkbox to post it to a group that I didn't post it to before, and post the entry, will the entry also re-post to the places I originally posted to?  I don't want to tick people off with a bunch of newbie double-posts!

And here's question #2.  I've seen a reference to defining neighborhoods on Localism, both as a way to get points on AR, and as a way to help establish yourself as an area expert.  But, I can't figure out how to do it.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Last question, what's the best way to choose other members to "associate" with, and what is the purpose?  I'm not sure I really get this part.

Thank you!

Alot of newbies are having the same questions as you.  Being fairly new I am learning as I go along.  At the top of the Newbie page there is a blogg called "I don't want to be gready"  which is also asking a question on re-entering a blogg.  As you get comments on your blogg you may get added information on his; I will be reading both. The people in this group are great and always ready to help.

Thanks Lois, I just replied over there too to let him know to check this one as well.  We'll have to see what we get.  You're right, this seems to be a pretty friendly place!

Hi, Judith!  Welcome to AR--I'm not the expert, but I'll try to answer your questions--maybe others can give better answers.  Here goes:

If I go back into a blog entry and hit the checkbox to post it to a group that I didn't post it to before, and post the entry, will the entry also re-post to the places I originally posted to?  I don't want to tick people off with a bunch of newbie double-posts!

No, it will not, although you'll have to join the groups first before posting there.  Once you've done that, go to Edit of the post you want to be included, click on the radio buttons of the groups, repost and it should appear on the added groups.  Remember you're only allowed to post to 5 groups but you can join as many groups that you can handle.

I've seen a reference to defining neighborhoods on Localism, both as a way to get points on AR, and as a way to help establish yourself as an area expert.  But, I can't figure out how to do it.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

When you're done writing your post, click on For Consumers, (instead of For Professionals) then scroll down to Region, click on your state, your county, city, and neighborhood (if there's any).  Then post.

Last question, what's the best way to choose other members to "associate" with, and what is the purpose?  I'm not sure I really get this part.

Associate is no different than who you want to be friends with and/or do business (referrals) with.  Add Associate is located on top of the member's profile--click on it and you've added him or her on your list.

Hope that helps.  You can e-mail me if you want more help.  Enjoy the 'Rain!
