Use Testimonials To Envoke Emotions About Your Business

Nothing expresses the great work than you do for your clients than the words of a previous satisfied client. In my opinon, testimonials are social proof that your trade, service, or product are of doing what you worked so hard to accomplish.

So let's look at some of the positive aspects of a referral

  • Testimonials are more believable, and credible, than fancy websites and advertising
  • They can touch on aspects about you, your products or services, that you could never say yourself, or at least without sounding self absorbed
  • They are very impactful with your current prospects.
  • Testimonials give potential clients a reason to move forward and do business with you
  • Your testimonial may point out benefits that you never thought were actually benefits
  • The clients that write testimonials are more likely to be life long clients and continue to refer business to you
  • Very few marketing tools give us this kind of return on investment.

Testimonials can come be in written form, video form, or by word of mouth

Hand written notes: Great credible proof to post around your office

Website: Designate a specific section on your website or blog for testimonials

A video clip: Is a great testimonial and can be sent to prospects

Don't be afraid to ask for a testimonial. Your clients may not understand how helpful they can be to your business by just taking a few minutes out of their day to spread the good word of your attention to detail. We sometimes become bashful when it's our turn to ask our clients for help. Don't be, most are willing to lend a helpful hand if you showed them the same.

I like to tell my clients right at the beginning of the process, it's my goal to provide you with to notch customer service to the point you are willing to write a testimonial. If we can honestly say to ourselves that we did everything to help our client, then we have earned the right to ask for a brief testimonial.

Testimonials are free just like smiles.

Social proof is amazingly powerful.  After all would you like to do business with 1 testimonial or 15?  Look at eBay and the seller rating system, do you even make bids when the seller has few if any positive transactions?

John ~ Testimonials from satisfied clients are invaluable. I have learned to ask for them right after closing, especially if everyone is happy!

I love the term social proof and I love how Tom Ferry calls them reviews rather than testimonials.  Keeps it sounding fresh.  This is something I definitely have to work on for my website and fan page.  Thanks for the reminder John!

Sincerely,

Kathleen

John, one of the best features of a Zillow profile is that you can ask for a "Review".  When I am being interviewed for a listing, I ask them if I can send them my profile and reviews from Zillow.  Peer Reviews are a powerful trend and tool in business.  Trulia has also rolled out this feature.
