Add a bit of country

Shopping is not my thing. Hunt it bag it, and on my way.

Occasionally a little serendipity creeps into my life. I have been looking to update my firearms for skeet, target and hunting for some time. Out of the blue appears a C_A_L  Ranch Store. It's there in West Jordan UT (7800 S 2735 W). I must have passed it many times, unknowing.

Definitely country in the city, with an emphasis on farm. Hay bales and animal feed near the entrance provides the aroma necessary to take your senses to the appropriate place.

No one at the gun counter (so often I have been lost in  heaving crowds struggling to "take a number") so my inquiries got first and quick attention. A very knowledgeable and courteous assistant (experience showed) made my shopping list disappear fast.

The store then became my wonderland. I now have a new shopping/wish list. I could not be enticed to change hat styles (still hanging on to my Aussie version). The boots were magnificent, but I have no place to put them. Black horned steer heads and real horse shoes could create ambiance in any den or "man cave".

I can envisage the Store being a tourist attraction. Foreign visitors could make their registers ring.  If you are passing, do drop in for an experience.

Larry,  That does look like a fine store.  We have some of those horse themed stores here in Denver yet.  My husband loves to go in and browse and he's not a shopper either.  He got himself a new pair of boots last fall.  His old ones were 37 years old.  Of course he only wears them occassionally.  Do you sense that he doesn't embrace change?

I promise if I ever get out that way, I'll stop into this store.  I could always use a new hat.

So sorry you can't wear boots! I am still looking for the right pair...I really want some gator or ostrich...then comes the hat. I finally found the right straw hat I wanted. My daughter borrowed it and by the time my demands for its return were adhered to, it was in shambles...

Still looking for the right felt winter hat...haven't started looking yet... Hey ! At least you can carry a six shooter! right?

Thank you all for your comments. I am happy I had the experience of CAL Ranch. It will encourage me to keep exploring further. While I doubt that I shall readily change my shopping habits, I am open to innovation and new experiences. They all add to the tapestry of my US adventure. This is a daily blast. There is so much to see and do.
