Texas Rocks with Freshwater and Saltwater Fishing
Yes, Texas has always been a very nice place to go fishing in both freshwater and saltwater.  During my childhood years, we used to look forward to going to a nearby lake to catch catfish and trout. But going all the way to Corpus Christi to fish on that coast for saltwater drum or bass was even better.  I sort of miss all those fishing trips we used to make back in the early 90s when I first retired from the service. It looks like it's time to get recharged back up and pull out the old fishing poles and plan another trip to the coast.

If you do enjoy fishing in the Great state of Texas, you need to know that there are Fishing Bag and Length Limits on what you catch. You are also required to have a fishing license too. I want to share the fishing bag and length limits with those who are planning to do some fishing in the State of Texas sometime soon. So, whether you decide to take in some freshwater fishing for bass, trout, or catfish, or get on down to the coast for some saltwater fishing for those marlins, snappers, or flounder, follow these fishing bag and length limits to be safe.

Thanks, Peter and Linda. I am sure you will find quite a few local fishermen in your area. Letting them know the bag size and length limits will come in handy, and keep them out of trouble.

Yes, Belinda. That's why Texas is so BIG. We never seem to run out of things to do here. Not much into hunting personally, but used to love my fishing on the coast.

Hi Brenda. That's you and me both. I haven't been since the early 90s. After I daughter was all grown, we stopped taking those trips to the coast to go fishing. But, It's time for me and my wife to get out there again and enjoy ourselves.

My husband and I figured out real fast that neither of us are fishermen; at least of the water variety :)

Jerry: This is some very good information and reminder of what you can and can not do. By the way, if you are ever down at Goose Island State Park you can fish off the pier without a license. Ceil read it in a magazine and we confirmed that last time we camped at Goose Island. Even though I live at Canyon Lake I don't have much time for fishing. When I go to Rockport I like to fish St. Charles Bay.

Jerry, good information for those who like to fish.  But, alas I am not one of them. :-)

You may have just recruited several return fisherpersons (politically correct term) to go fishing again this summer.  I haven't been in years but I remember many good times when I did take the time to go.  Thanks for the reminder of some good times and good fish dinners.

Hi Teral. Sounds like you and your husband might be "fishers of men", as Christ told his disciples.

Hi Carl. Thank you and Ceil for that tip for fishing at Goose Island State Park. I need to add that to my list for nice places to go fishing without a license.

That's okay Rebecca, but I am sure you might love to eat some nice fish dinners from catfish, trout, or drum. I know these are my favorites fish foods to eat.

Hi Doug. Welcome back to fishing again. I know I haven't gone fishing in awhile, and I was just telling my wife we needed to plan a trip back down to the Corpus Christi area.

Hey Jerry! First, glad to see you're posting in Texas Rocks!  I see 2 of our 10 members commenting, great!  Now, onto your blog topic.  I used to fish when I was little, my dad would take me and my brothers. I always liked that he didn't treat me different cause I was/am a girl (girl status hasn't changed :)).  Later in life I developed a fish phobia so I don't touch them anymore. But I still like to go, and hold the rod, just not touch them. Funny, right?  Now that my dad passed I think I need to start fishing, it will be a good way to connect with him.  I'll have to take my husband so he can bait the hook and take the fish off for me! LOL!

Hi Cathy. I will have a lot to post in Texas Rocks for the September challenge for Localism posts. But, back to the fishing, I see you have a BIG phobia with having to touch the fish and those hooks. By all means, let your husband do that for you, and go back to the lakes or the coast for some great fishing times. I know I am planning to getting back out there myself soon.

Looking forward to lower temperatures to enjoy the outdoors.  If we ever get below 90 maybe we'll go camping.  I love camping!
