If you had the GIFT of one DAY to spend in Southern Maryland, here's the WAY....that will make you want to stay.
Start off in Chesapeake Beach Maryland with Breakfast at Rod n Reel Breakfast Buffet on the Weekends on Traders during the Week. Both are tough to beat!
Walk the three Boardwalks in Calvert County. Start with North Beach, explore to find the one in Chesapeake Beach, and then roam down to Solomons Island to do the third boardwalk. They are quaint and small towns-y.
On the way to Solomons, pop in Starbucks for their brew or Panera for their iced tea, too.
You are going to get a crabcake at Stoneys. So choose whether you want to eat in Prince Frederick MD for their takeout on the run OR the Broomes Island Road location for the VIEW or the Kingfisher Solomons location for even more water view. You are going to try a Babycakes before you leave town, hands down.
Then tromp around the shops at Solomons.
As you head back up the county, think CRABS. Think a dozen. Think Abners back in the Beach again.
Good things begin and end in the towns of Chesapeake Beach and North Beach.
They are both within an hour's reach of the White House and D.C.
Those are the tip top picks to get the gist of my Southern Maryland turf.
It's Beach, Bay, Boats, Barns and a good dog at your side for the country ride.
