Sino-U.S. Relations Lecture in Mandarin with President Jinjun Zhao
September 27, 2011 | 5:30 PM | FedEx Global Education Center, Nelson Mandela Auditorium
Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in 1949, Sino-U.S. relations have been in a continuous state of evolution and accorded varying degrees of priority from one presidential administration to the next. Today, the immensity of China’s presence on the world stage makes dialogue between our nations more vital than ever before.
UNC Global welcomes Jinjun Zhao, the president of Beijing’s China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU), to deliver a lecture on the dynamics between these two countries in an ever-changing and ever-more connected world.
The event is free and open to the public. President Zhao’s speech will be delivered entirely in Mandarin; English translation will not be provided.
A native of Shandong Province, Zhao is a graduate of the Beijing Foreign Studies University and built a distinguished career in the Chinese Foreign Service. From 2003 to 2008, he served as China’s ambassador to France.
Today, he serves as head of the China Foreign Affairs University, which has the distinction of being the only university in the People’s Republic of China under the guidance of the country’s Ministry of Foreign Service. The university prepares its students via a rigorous and globally focused curriculum for careers in international business and law as well as in international affairs and the Chinese Foreign Service.
Parking may be available in the McCauley Deck below the center.
