A Rapid Fire Day of Learning with Evernote and my iPad
Wow! Sally Dunbar Done Raised Da Bar on this Realtor use of Evernote. She integrated it with Siri for dictation and even discovered you can share recipes and shopping lists for Thanksgiving. I am really curious to see her docs or tags to see how many extra ideas she discovered for Evernote!
My brain is buzzing and Cheryl Ritchie is filling my email with MORE things for me to do. You see, I just discovered EverNote and am OBSESSED! I've had the app for awhile, but thanks to Cheryl Ritchie and her unwaivering focus on all things technological/ipad/iPhone, I spent the day learning about it in depth.
Here's what I've learned today.
1. EverNote is a note keeping app that syncs with all my devices - my iPhone, iPad, Mac at home, and PC at work. Cool. So a note I write at work is available to me in my car, at home, anywhere I have my iPhone. Haven't tiried the shower, but I bet it works...
2. I can almost quit carrying my 3" planner with papers squished in... and falling out. I have pages for everything in my planner...
- Lisitng MLS copies
- Escrow profile sheets (with all escrow information)
- Title/escrow rates
- New buyers
- New sellers
- Notes for upcoming speeches and classes I'll give
- To Do lists for upcoming parties I'll host
- A list of golf buddies
- A list of other people caring for their parents (so I remember who to call to regain my sanity)
- List of 100 Things To Do Before I Die
- Goals for the year
- My parents health plan information
- Info on my rental
- List of my favorite apps
- List of Passwords (shhhh....)
- Christmas present ideas
You get the point. My LIFE is organized there and I'd DIE if I ever lost it.
Not anymore. I have written all those notes into organized files, with tags, in EverNote and they are kept up in the cloud somewhere.
I wrote the notes on my iPad, then downloaded the app to my iPhone.... ZAPPPPP. There were the notes on my phone. Then I loaded it onto my MAC. ZAPPP the notes they were. Tomorrow, I'll put EverNote on my PC at work and ZAPPP - they will be there. As my Dad says, It's slicker than snot on a doorknob!
Other uses???
- I put my Thanskgiving menu and shopping list on an EverNote note and linked it so my two daughters could access it. With a $5 a month premium service, they can add to it (I haven't upgraded yet, though). For now, they can only read it.
- I can tell Siri to "email Evernote" (I set up my evernote email address as a contact named Evernote in my phone, so Siri would recognize it) and dictate a TO-DO list right into my phone while driving and it shows up in EverNote. That's slick and actually works.
- I can keep ideas about a marketing plan, or a new buyer's manual, or an open house idea - ANYTHING I want to keep track of.
- I can save websites there, tagged to find them again. Or audio clips. Or websites. Or photos. Or recipes. ANYTHING, actually.
- Since the "Notebooks" in EverNote are arranged alphabetically, I'm figuring I can keep a ToDo list that always shows up on the top by naming it !ToDo. The "!" will make it float to the top.
I'm sure I'll discover more uses - this is only day one! Posts I read and comments on the web say this is one app you use everyday. I've even read comments from large businesses who organize and share their information on this little free app. Amazing.
What else are you using EverNote for?
