Ballard is one Seattle’s oldest neighborhoods and was settled by Danish and Finish immigrants in the mid-1800s. Today, its trendy cafes, neighborhood pubs, boutiques and unique shops have made Ballard a favorite destination for locals and out of area residents.
Just north of NW 85th, which locals consider the northern end of Ballad, begins the North Beach Community. A large percentage of homes were built in the 1940, with the development of western half of the North Beach neighborhood experience the gentrification and larger homes that take advantage of the sloped hill side to afford most of the western part of North Beach some amazing views of Puget Sound and beyond to the Olympic Mountains.
