December's Season of Celebrations & Sharing-Newsday Charities Help-A-Family Campaign
Newsday Charities Help-A-Family Campaign
Many of us know of families that are experiencing challenges this holiday season because of job loss or down-sizing, maintaining a home for their families, keeping food or the table and preparing their children for the future with the education and skills they'll need to succeed.
Among the organizations on Long Island, Newsday Charities, through its Newsday Charities Help-A-Family Campaign is working to make a difference. As stated on its website, "Newsday Charities, a fund of the McCormick Foundation, counts on compassionate Long Islanders to raise money to help catch people when they fall on hard times."
The McCormick Foundation will match your gift at fifty cents on the dollar. That means a $30 gift becomes $45, $100 becomes $150.
Because Newsday and the McCormick Foundation pay all administrative and campaign expenses, 100% of your gift and match goes to support local nonprofit agencies.
As stated on the Newsday Charities site, vital programs include
•Offer shelter and transitional housing for the homeless
•Provide steady access to nutritious food for the hungry
•Ensure safe havens for children and families suffering from domestic abuse
•Support youth education opportunities for a successful future
