Polluting Trucks, Smoking Cars

Don’t you hate it when you are driving down the highway, and you see a car or truck in front of you spewing plumes of black and blue smoke into the environment?  Ever wonder if there’s something you can do about it?  Here in Utah, (and many other places) there is.  You can call the Department of Air Quality, and depending on which county you are in (if they have emissions standards) you can report a vehicle that seems to be doing way more polluting than a normal vehicle.  I encourage everyone to look up their local Department of Air Quality numbers, and program it into your cell phone for quick access when you this happening.

For those from Utah, here’s the Utah Department of Air Quality website – it lists the number to call by county.

You can also report excessive dust, industrial, or other burning emissions to your local Department of Environmental Quality.  I will be posting a BLOG in the near future with more information on this.

As always, please feel free to comment if you have any questions, or anything to add!

I am glad you are helping people to be proactive.  I hate to see these big trucks spewing black smoke into the air.  I wonder if there is a similar service here in Florida.

More companies need to be proactive in ensuring that their trucks meet or exceed emissions guidelines.
