Why Women Are Better At Staging A Home

We’re not saying that staging a home is something that men can’t do well, but in the battle of the sexes, this is one area where women usually come out on top.  Here are five reasons why.

1. It’s All In The Details

Women generally pay more attention to details than men.  Women will take the time to make sure that there are fresh flowers in vases.  They’ll notice little nicks and dents in the walls.  They’ll notice dust bunnies in the corner.  Women will fluff pillows and straighten bed coverings.  When staging a home for sale, the details are important.  And women notice the details.

2. Style Matters

In general, women more than men can be counted on to make sure colors match and trends are current.  Women care if cushions match the couch, and if a piece of art is truly at home in a room.  When staging a home, you’re setting it up so that in a quick glance, it looks appealing and inviting.  A woman’s style aesthetic can really make a difference.

3. Clutter Counts

Have you ever seen a man walk by a load of laundry sitting on the stairs over and over, and when called on it, claim he just didn’t see it?  Men don’t see clutter the same way women do.  Men sometimes see useful things (like tools on a bench) where women see dust collectors.  A woman understands the value of uninterrupted counter space when staging a home.

We had a couple of guys in our office that were incredible stagers.  I'm almost offended at this post, but I have better things to do than be offended.

"Why women MAY be better stagers" may be just a better title. .I can imagine that there is a lot of man that could challenge your assumptions. .

someone like Nate Berkus.. .he even has his own TV show and Oprah liked him a lot!

There are always exceptions and I'm sure your office home stagers are excellent at what they do. These are general points that a real estate professional or home seller can read and take into account when deciding upon a home staging service. Thank you for your message and opinion.

Well, I can think of two local staging companies who are run by men and their staging style is impeccable!  Staging is a trained skill that also takes some innate talent -- but even my engineer hubby can spot bad staging - and lots of it is done by women!  Sorry - gender doesn't matter in this career - training, perserverance and skill does!
