New Years Resolutions: 1 in 4 peoples have NEVER achieved ANY of their new Years Resolutions

As this first Thursday of the year, People are still deciding what their New Years Resolution will be. I was intrigued when I fell upon an article with crazy New Years Resolution Statistics:

1)    45 % of Americans usually set their New Years Resolution; 17 % set sometimes New Years Resolutions and 38 % have never set New Years Resolutions

2)   1 in 4 people NEVER succeeded or have failed every single new years resolution

3)    Only 8 % of people are always successful in achieving their New Years Resolution

This makes me think of the book “Think big and grow rich” by Napoleon Hill.  In the book, Napoleon explains why ONLY 2 % thinks big and grows rich! That means that 98 % of the people who starts off with goal settings simply - Fails.

Now, what the “secret” and “the laws of attractions” means to me is that in every area of your life, whether it is for business, health, family, money or personal, you need to set goals for yourself. You also need to believe that you can achieve those goals and you must be “Obsess” with those goals till you achieved them.

As much as I loved the book the “the secret” and I am a true believer of the “Laws of Attraction” and New Years Resolution, I think we have to remember that to get those goals we need a plan!

What is your goal? Spend more time with the family? Become the #1 in your field of work? Loose that extra pound? Quit smoking? Quit Drinking? Make more time for yourself?Enjoy life more? Learn something new? Help others? Get organized?

When? Will you start now? When do you plan on spending more time with the family? By when do you want to become #1 in your field of work? By when will you have that average weight body? When will you make time for yourself and when will you help others?

Why? The Why is the most important because it will keep you concentrated! Why do you want to spend more time with the family and what happens if you don’t? Why do you want to become #1? Why do you want to loose that extra pound? Why do you want to stop drinking and smoking? Why do you want to learn something new, be organized and help others?

HOW? How will you do all of this?

Once you determine these, now the next step is action!

And last, ones you determined your plan, and you feel like you are about to give up! Whither your tired, you don’t want to go to the gym, you want that cigarette or a drink, or you just don’t think you have it to be #1, go back to your original plan and you can figure out a path to keep you on track!

Remember:"Riches do not respond to wishes. They respond only to definite plans, backed by definite desires, through constant persistence" Napoleon Hill.

Now, did you ever keep up a New Years Resolution that you are proud to share today? Do you have a new years resolution that you would like to share?

That was really interesting, I think that if you set realistic goals and break them into small portions that are doable, anyone can achieve what they want. Thanks for sharing.

Acting with inspired actin can achieve great results. As I grow older I am so surprised how many people do not even have goals

I just reviewed by 2011 goals for business - some met, some not.  Perhaps this year's resolution is to make sure I meet them all . . . otherwise, what is the purpose of stating them in the first place?

Same here! I was brought up to always set goals for myself  and I love re-reading them when I fall upon them. Same as some of you - I may or may not have accomplished them, but they still remain the same. This means that my goals and my purpose of my work remains the same! -Work harder - set a better a plan - and good luck to all of you.

2012 Here we come!
